Adam Clements – Lawyer

Adam is an Associate Lawyer who joined Kate Williams Medical Law Specialists in March 2024. Adam holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New England and was admitted to practice in 2021.

Adam’s experience is primarily in medical negligence and insurance matters, having also previously worked in criminal law, as a researcher for Jeremy Morris SC and on various commercial matters. Adam as a solicitor acted for the successful Appellant in the matter of Honeysett v Director of Public Prosecutions [2023] NSWCCA 215.

Adam has particular experience in cross-border claims and disputes (particularly NSW and Victoria) requiring application of conflict of laws principles, the application of Consumer Protection legislation in Civil Liability Claims and has presented on the topic at the Medico-Legal Congress and via UNSW’s continuing legal education program.

Adam was part of a team who lobbied for amendments to the Medical Indemnity Act 2002 (Cth) which would retrospectively cover medical practitioners who ceased practice without triggering the automatic invocation provisions of the Run-off Cover Scheme – with those amendments having now been made.

  • Dental Negligence (General Dentistry negligence, unnecessary treatment, orthodontics, AGGA appliance placement in mature patients)
  • Ear, Nose and Throat Claims arising from surgery
  • GP Claims (Misdiagnosis, Failing to refer patients, improper prescribing)
  • Emergency Department claims (Failing to treat or incorrect triage pathways)
  • Surgical Complication Claims
  • Obstetric and Antenatal Care claims (including matters the subject of submissions and evidence to the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into Birth Trauma, Consent issues)
  • Mismanagement causing death in Aged Care facilities
