Jason Ng – Senior Associate

Jason Ng is a Senior Associate with an extensive background in commercial law and intellectual property (having worked previously on large scale pharmaceutical patent litigation in a Top-Tier law firm). Jason graduated from Sydney University Law School in 2006 with First Class Honours and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia in 2007.

Jason practiced for several years in commercial litigation with several top-tier law firms in Sydney before relocating to Canberra in 2013 and transitioned to the Public Service working for IP Australia (and eventually in the role of Senior Legal Counsel in IP Australia’s inhouse Office of Legal Counsel team).

In addition to practicing law, Jason also previously taught Contract Law in the Juris Doctor Law program at the University of New South Wales.

Jason’s story of moving into medical negligence law with Kate’s team is quite unique! Jason witnessed a close personal friend receiving their un-expected diagnosis of Stage 4 Bowel Cancer.  Jason himself was also injured in a dental procedure which prevented him from practicing law for an extended period of time and required multiple surgeries for recovery.

Working alongside Kate to achieve successful outcomes in both of these cases and discovering a newfound passion for medical negligence law, Jason was invited to join Kate’s legal team in 2022.

Jason’s area of practice includes dental negligence claims, missed diagnosis claims and unnecessary surgical procedure claims.  Jason brings his decade of commercial litigation experience into his medical negligence matters and employs a ‘leave absolutely no stone unturned’ approach to his client’s claims.

Jason is motivated from his own personal experiences of being a Plaintiff to ensure that our clients obtain the best outcome possible.  Jason is in a very unique position where he can actually empathise with our clients having already been through the journey himself (both as a Plaintiff and as a previous client of the firm).
